Salty Float and Bloat

Scenario: Meet at the parking lot then a short Hash starts and ends at the parking lot on out at 11:00. Casual lunch before we put in at 1:00.We will float to Avonmore (4.5 miles). We will coordinate a carpool to get folks back to Saltsburg.

Folks can rent kayaks or canoes at Saltsburg Kayak and Canoe Outfitters. They are very close and will pick up you and your boat at Avonmore.
All tubers please note that you will have to pair up with a kayak. This is a float not a race. All kayakers must offer to link with a tuber to keep the flotsom together. Tethers will be provided.

Hares will provide beer at the start and on trail and sandwiches and snacks before the float. You are responsible for your floating beverages. Hash cash TBD.
We have the upper pavilion at Pasternak Rec Area in Avonmore. There is primitive camping for $10 per tent. We need to inform the manager, Mike, a few hours before we get there. His number is 724-388-2123 it you have any further questions

Well, this was supposed to be a mother-daughter trail, but Fisty spent the week blowing glass. So, expect a shitshow as I, Slow Ride, have had to design the trail by my lonesome.

There will be marks, twists, turns, falses, beer, shots, and likely rain as we wind our way through Dormont. 

On out from Arsenal Cider House at 2:30pm. They open at 2pm and, yes, they have beer! Their pretzels are reeeally good. 

You don’t have to pay for parking on Sundays, so grab any spot you like.

Background: Started in 2001 and occurs just once every five years as a reunion of all Pittsburgh hashers, past and present.

Recommend driving just past the parking lot entrance and across the roadway bridge. There is auxiliary parking on the right immediately past the bridge. This is probably a better place for our misbehavior. Alternately, park at the far end of the paved parking lot and walk across the footbridge.

Trails: Current plan includes something for everyone; a double-turkey, a turkey and an eagle.
The double-turkey is a flat, dry one-mile stroll. No beer stop. But there is an optional ice cream detour. Or feel free to have a beer in the parking lot while you wait for the others to return around 4:30pm. A warning, though. You’ll be getting ice cream (and beer, for that matter) again at the apres. (Happy birthday to me!)
Turkey trail is a wonderful 2.5 mile walk in the woods, moderate climbing, dry and includes the beer stop.
Eagle – You’ll get your feet wet and come away with branches, bugs and a few scratches, approx. 3.5 miles involving less well-defined trails, a little more climbing and the beer stop.
Recommend: Insect repellent, hats and, for turkey and eagle trails, long pants or shiggy socks.
The park permits dogs, presumably under control. Any dogs at the apres must be well behaved (we live in a no barking zone) and properly “relieved” (and not in our yard).

It is almost the end of August, and it's a Saturday trail. Come loosen up those legs for Pedal Pittsburgh and the bash. Golden Age has great beer and a nice outdoor space.

August Dumpling Bash w/ Green Mile & Spermit

Join Green Mile and Spermit for the August bash and sample some dumplings along the way.
 
About 13 miles, mostly flat, but 1 pretty big hill. About half on bike trails and half streets. 
 
2 beer/dumpling stops and more dumplings at circle. Dumplings, 1 beer stop and circle on hares, prelube and 1 beer stop contra. Probably all veg dumplings since less math involved.
